It is considered an "uber-artsy" film, even out-artsying the pretentious films made by Malaysia's indie-film stalwarts; James Lee and Tan Chui Mui. Like many other pretentious Malaysian made art films, Lost in Banting relied heavily on long-takes and static shots, morose characters, and features minimal dialogue. "Lost in Banting" was made without a budget, it was shot with a Canon G7 point and shoot camera. The grainy picture quality boost it's artistic credibility.
